Jerry was a lifetime member and past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus council 1563, a founding member of the Elks Club of Lee’s Summit, MO, past president of Our Lady of Fatima’s Holy Name Society, the first leader of Fatima’s RCIA program, an active athlete-member in the GAA- the Gaelic Athletic Association, and the founding member of a traditional Irish culture and music club in Casper.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Nancy Byrne of Casper, his children and their spouses, Brian Byrne, Louise Byrne, Kathleen Otstot, Siobhan Byrne, John Byrne, and Sarah Medcalf, as well as numerous cousins in Ireland and England, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. Jerry, or Dermot, as he was known to his family, was a devoted son, husband, and father. Though he came to love his new homeland in America, nothing would ever diminish his love for his family and first home in Ireland. He took pride in his dual citizenship and deeply respected the traditions and spirit of both his countries. He was a kind and generous friend, neighbor, and family member. Though he will be dearly missed, the love he has sown will live forever. Jeremiah Byrne, a true son of Ireland, Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam, “May his soul be in God’s right hand.”
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Central Wyoming Hospice.
