Graveside services for Jay Joseph Georgeson will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery, with Rev. Cynthia McBride of the First Christian Church officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Natrona County United Veterans Council and the Wyoming Army National Guard. Viewing will be Tuesday, November 6, 2012 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 PM and Wednesday, November 7, 2012 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon. Interment will be at Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery. Mr. Georgeson died Friday November 2, 2012 in Casper Wyoming of natural causes. Jay Joseph Georgeson was born January 20, 1920 in Worland Wyoming, a son to Joseph and Myra Amelia (Nielsen) Georgeson. As a child he moved with his family to Torrington, where he finished his education. Jay graduated from Torrington High School in 1938. Jay enlisted with the United States National Guard in June of 1940 serving with the 115th Cavalry and was a Master Sergeant in Europe during World War II. At the beginning of the war he was introduced to Elizabeth Glass on a blind date in Los Angeles. They continued to correspond and date during the war. Because they were stationed on opposite coasts they eventually arranged to meet and get married in Altus, OK on May 7, 1947. After their marriage, they lived a short time in Laramie, WY, where he operated his own glass business. They spent a year in Salt Lake before moving to Casper. Mr. Georgeson and his wife were both employed with Mobil Oil Company for many years. When the refinery was closed, he transferred to Sioux Falls, SD. They lived there for three years and then moved back to Casper. Jay was the troop master with the Boy Scout troop at the First Baptist Church. He and his wife later became members of the First Christian Church. With his wife Elizabeth, they volunteered for Meals on Wheels weekly for more than 35 years He was a long time resident of Casper for 57 years. He is survived by his son, Craig and his wife, Cheryl of Lincoln, NE; a granddaughter, Carly Schereer and her husband, Steve of Colorado Springs, a grandson, Chad Joseph of Lincoln, NE and a great granddaughter, Lia Elizabeth of Colorado Springs. He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth in May, 2012, parents, four sisters, and two brothers.
