Jay F. Bordewick, 82, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, June 24, 2014. He was born on August 28, 1931 to Frank and Isabel (Metcalf) Bordewick in Primghar, Iowa. He fondly told anyone who would listen that it was the only Primghar in the world. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1951-54 and went on to graduate from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. On April 9, 1966, he married Margaret Peterson in Omaha, Nebraska. He spent most of his career as a banker in Nebraska and Wyoming. As an active member of his community, he served on numerous local and statewide boards. He enjoyed golfing and playing cards. He was known for his sense of humor and always seemed to have a new joke or story to share. Above all, he loved his family - especially his grandchildren. Jay is survived by his wife, Margaret; his daughter Mary (Brett) Johnson of Green River, Wyoming; son Christian (Jamie) Bordewick of Fort Collins, Colorado; daughter-in-law Charlotte Bordewick of Kansas City, Missouri; and grandchildren, Bridgette Bordewick, Abby Bordewick, Katie Johnson, Josie Bordewick, Nick Johnson, Jay Bordewick, and Riley Bordewick. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Isabel Bordewick; sister, Jane Kelly; brother, John Bordewick; and son, Kurt Bordewick. Honoring his request, cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will occur on Sunday, June 29th beginning at noon at the Casper Country Club. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Nicolaysen Art Museum or a charity of your choice.
