Jason Marlow Shipton fought a courageous battle with brain cancer and on October 28, 2018 won that battle and went home to our Lord at the age of 37. Funeral services will be held on Monday November, 5 2018 at noon at the Casper Church of Christ located at 2344 E. 2nd St. Casper, WY 82601 with interment to follow at Oregon Trail Veteran's Cemetery. Jason was born on March 10, 1981 to Roger and Claudia Shipton in Lander, WY. He spent his childhood in Ft. Washakie, WY, Alaska and Casper, WY enjoying the outdoors every chance he got. Jason graduated from Natrona County High School in 1999. He attended Oklahoma Christian University before answering the call to serve his country. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 2002, where he would go on to serve in four combat deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan over his career. On July 17, 2004 Jason married his best friend and the love of his life, Amanda. They would spend the next almost 10 years moving around the country with the military, facing deployments together and welcoming their three precious boys into this world. Jason was first diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2011 and was medically retired from the Marines in 2013 after over 10 years of service. The family then relocated to their hometown here in Casper with their boys and Jason worked for Baker Hughes. Their 15 years together, while much too short, was filled with enough love, laughter and memories to carry them through a lifetime. Jason was first and foremost a man of God. His faith shaped who he was and everything he did. His most important roles in this life were that of husband and father. He filled those roles beyond expectation. He taught his family through his example what sacrifice, love, humility, honor and discipleship truly look like. The way he lived his life will continue to shape his wife and especially his sweet young sons for the rest of their lives. Jason's cancer returned a year ago and he fought like the warrior that he is, and he did it with a smile on his face and peace in his heart that God's plan is perfect even if the ending wasn't what we wanted. He leaves such an empty void in our lives and our hearts, but the light that he shined in this life will continue to burn bright and we are all better for having had him in our lives. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents. He is survived by his loving wife, Amanda; their three sons, Caiden (11), Hudson (9) and Sawyer (6); his parents Roger and Claudia; his mother and father-in-law, Marty and Loy; his sister and brother-in-law, Mike and Vanessa Larsen , brother-in-laws and sister in-laws, Nick and Amber Edwards and Kyle and Meagan Dye; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family would greatly appreciate donations to the SSgt Jason Shipton Memorial Fund at https://www.gofundme.com/jason-shipton-memorial-fund.com to help ease the burdens of his wife and children left behind or the Semper Fi Fund at https://semperfifund.org, a military organization that provides wonderful support to Marine families in need.
