A funeral mass for Jane Bon Swanton, 93, will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m., Saturday, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church by the Rev. Gary Ruzicka. Following the funeral service, entombment will be at the Highland Cemetery. A viewing is available from 5:00-7:00 followed by the Rosary at 7 p.m. on Friday at Bustard's Funeral Home. She died June 23, 2013, at Life Care Center of Casper. She was born in Casper, Wyoming, the daughter of Cecil and Gladys Bon. Jane attended Casper schools, graduating from Natrona Country High School, attended Mills College, in Oakland, California; and graduated with a BA in Economics from the University of Wyoming. She loved being a secretary and later received her education degree from the University of Wyoming teaching reading for the Natrona County School District for several years. She was past president of the Wyoming Women's Republican Club, active in political service while husband, Bill, was in the Wyoming Legislature and elected speaker of the House, public relations chairman for the Wyoming Girl Scout Council, member of the Casper Service League, which was dedicated to service in the community, and a National Officer for Pi Beta Phi Sorority, receiving the Pi Beta Phi Angel Award for outstanding service to the sorority. She and her husband were members and past Board of Directors for the Vive Le Joie dance club for many years, enjoyed playing bridge with friends and reading. United in marriage on March 8, 1943, Jane and William F. Swanton, orchestrated a memorable life full of family, friends, work, and activities. She had a great sense of humor and a strong sense of family. Survivors include two sons and their wives, Larry Swanton (Peggy) of Portland, Ore., Randy Swanton (Karen) of Thief River Falls, Minn.; two daughters and their husbands, Bonnie Bitner (David) and Nancy Kidd (Robert), both of Casper. She had 11 grandchildren: Alicia Carrasco, Tamara Myer, Derek Bitner, Bryant Bitner, Surrey Reilly, Sarah Kidd, Isaiah Swanton, Miri Swanton, Peter Bun, Zoe Pietras- Swanton, Tobin Pietras-Swanton, and 10 great grandchildren: Austin Reilly, Ethan Reilly, Ryan Carrasco, Reese Carrasco, Katherine Myer, Reagan Myer, Maggie Myer, Madison Clayburger, and Noah Burrows; and one brother, William .S. Bon (Ruth) of Casper; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William F. Swanton, one grandchild, and one great grandchild. Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, Lions' Allen A Steward Camp for the Blind, Branch of Life Foundation at the Life Care Center of Casper for the staff, or a charity of the donor's choice.
