James Woodrow Rudd was born September 11, 1937 in Greeley, Colorado to Woodrow and Mildred Rudd. He grew up on a farm south of La Salle, Colorado and attended school in La Salle, Colorado. He graduated from College High School and attended college in Greeley. He moved to Casper in 1957 to attend Casper College where he met his wife, Eileen Thompson. They were married in 1958 and had four daughters. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. Jim went to work for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. He later got his real estate broker license and he and his brother, John Rudd, started Rudd Agency. When Casper took one of its down turns, he became an agent for Farm Bureau Insurance. He retired from Farm Bureau, but immediately got bored, so he started doing real estate appraisals. Jim was a past president of the Board of Realtors, Casper Multi-list Exchange, member and president of the Casper Parks and Recreation Commission, and a member of the T-Bird Booster Club. After retiring, Jim and Eileen spent two seasons working at Grand Teton National Park. They played golf at Star Valley and hiked most of the trails. With their camper and RV, they set a goal of every state but fell short of a couple. They spent their summers at their cabin on Casper Mountain. Jim loved sports and the outdoors. He especially loved to pheasant hunt with his dog. He and his family spent many summers backpacking in the mountains. He sponsored and pitched for a men's softball team. He played basketball, skied, and loved to golf. Jim will be sorely missed by his harem (his name for his daughters), but we know he is in a better place with his beloved family and cherished dogs. The services will be Saturday, December 28th at 11 am at theChurch of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints, Stake Center in Wolf Creek. Jim is survived by his wife, Eileen; his daughters, Karen (Mickey) Littell, Terry (Kirk) Smith, Linda (Doug) Valerius, and Cheryl (Craig) Riley; also his grandchildren, Jamey (Katie) Zimmerman, Erin Zimmerman, Mary Kerns, Samantha Valerius, Robert Valerius, Jack and Nick Riley; and great-grandchildren, Andrea Hendricks, Joseph Hendricks, Dylan Zimmerman, and Ashlyn Zimmerman. The family requests in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to a charity of their choice or to Parkinsons/Dementia research.
