James Perdue

A memorial service for James O. Perdue, 83, will be held Wednesday, November 10, at 10:00 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Casper. Jim passed away peacefully at home on November 6. Jim was born May 12, 1927, in Casper, the son of Ody and Bertha Mae Collins Perdue. He attended McKinley Grade School and Junior High, and graduated from NCHS in 1945. Shortly after graduation, he entered the Army and was discharged in November, 1946. Shortly after his discharge, he went to work for the Texas Company. He met the love of his life, Alice Francis, who worked in the office there. They were married on August 29, 1948. He retired from Texaco after thirty-five years, the year the refinery closed. He spent the last fifteen years at Texaco as a supervisor in the Bulk Oil Department. He is survived by his wife, Alice, daughter Cynthia Rhodes (Earl), sons Dan (Gwen) and David (Lisa), as well as nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was preceeded in death by his parents, a brother, Elmer, and a sister, Charlotte. Jim served as a volunteer at Meals on Wheels for ten years and worked as a volunteer at Wyoming Medical Center. He belonged to the First United Methodist Church, Elks, and Golden Kiwanis. He was very proud of his sons, who graduated from the University of Wyoming and his daughter, a graduate of the University of Denver. Jim was well-loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the First United Methodist Church, Meals on Wheels, or a charity of the donor's choice.
