James Loomer

Funeral services for Mr. James Carson Loomer, 66, of Casper, WY, will be held at 11:30AM, Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded. James proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Visitation will be held today from 4:00PM to 7:00PM at Bustard's Funeral Home. James was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Friend. He passed away peacefully Friday September 4th 2015 surrounded by family at the Shepherd of the Valley,Casper Wyoming after a long battle with cancer. Jim was born October 13, 1948 in Casper Wyoming to Clarence and Myra Loomer. Jim graduated from Natrona County High School. After graduating from high school Jim continued to help his father on their ranch west of the Airport. On June 28, 1968 he married Dee Dee Carter. In September of 1968 Jim was drafted into the United States Navy. After serving in the Navy, Jim returned home where he and Dee Dee raised sheep west of the Airport. In 1970 Jim went to work for the City of Casper working for the street department and water distribution until 1982. Jim and his family then moved to Glendo Wyoming where they ranched and raised sheep and cattle. Jim later went back to work for the City of Casper in 1991 while his family stayed in Glendo and operated the ranch} until selling the ranch and moving back to Casper in 1996. Jim continued to ranch in Casper and work for the City of Casper until retiring in January of 2012. After retiring, Jim continued to take care of the ranch until 2013. Jim and Dee Dee would travel to Tucson Arizona in the winter and come home in the summer. Jim and Dee Dee loved helping all of the children that they knew whether it be in the rodeo arena or helping the children with their 4-H projects. Jim loved to watch his daughters show their sheep and cattle. Later on Jim enjoyed watching his granddaughters show their cattle in Texas at the World Black Hereford Show and his other granddaughter show her Southdown and Suffolk sheep. Jim is survived by his Wife of 47 years Dee Dee Loomer, Daughters, Jody (Shane) Mooney, Bobbie (George) Mills and Jamie (Chas) Forbes, Grand Daughters Maggie Forbes, Abbie Forbes and Brea Mills. Sister in law Donna (Les) Obert, Brother-in- laws Morris Carter and Bob Carter. Nephew Todd (Sandy) Loomer} Rodney Loomer (Debbie Mayberry) Bryce (Melissa) Carter and Nieces Oneta Carter, Ivy (Colin) Morrison, Airain (Sean ) Coaps, Katrina (Justin) Crimm} Kimberly Carter along with many great nephews and nieces and relatives of the Ponca Tribe of Nebraska. Jim was preceded in death by his Father Clarence Loomer, Mother Myra Loomer} Brothers Don Loomer, Dave Loomer and John Loomer, Sister Delores Lochner. In lieu of flowers you can make a donation to the Emigrant Gap scholarship fund at any Hilltop Bank location.
