James Christopher Good, 83, passed away peacefully on April 24th, 2016 at Central Wyoming Hospice. Jim was Fremont Nebraska's New Years baby born Jan 2, 1933 to Margaret and Harley Good. He was raised and attended public school in Edgemont, South Dakota. Jim enlisted in the S. Dakota National Guard in 1947 and enlisted in the U.S. Army the following year. His tour of duty included service in Germany supporting the Berlin Airlift. Upon receiving his honorable discharge Jim moved to Thermopolis, Wyoming to be near family and find employment. He met Dixie Ramsey there and they were married in 1954. Jim was a devoted and loving husband and father who held diverse jobs including Black Smith Apprentice, Oilfield worker, Welder, Auto Shop Manager, Technical College Instructor, Aircraft Mechanic, and Commercial Pilot. In 1972 he was employed by Amoco Oil Company as a Pipeline Patrol Pilot in Casper. He flew for Amoco until 1995 and continued to work as a Safety Consultant until retirement in 1998. He then continued his hobby of building airplanes, giving flight instruction, administering tests for the FAA, and lending constant technical and training support to Wyoming's aviation community. Jim had a passion for Air Racing and is well known for racing his WW2 T-6 advanced fighter trainer, Wyoming Wildcatter at the National Air Races in Reno annually for 25 years. Jim was a member and Chairman Emeritus of the National T-6 Racing Association. In recognition of his many contributions to Aviation Jim is being recognized as the 2016 inductee to the Wyoming Aviation Hall of Fame. He is survived by his son, Eddy (Kendra) Good of Casper; daughter, Jimmie (David) Hoadley of Gillette; one older sister, Blanche Schaffer of Chico, Calif.; one younger sister, Dorothy Olivas of Dallas Texas; as well as 6 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren. Jim was preceded in Death by his wife Dixie; an older Brother, Hank; and three older Sisters, Marge, Katherine, and Maxine. A Celebration of Jim Good's life and formal Induction to the Wyoming Aviation Hall of Fame will be held at the Good Warbird Hanger at 2pm, June 14th. Memorial contributions may be given in Jim's name to Pop in the Shop Ministry, 232 E. 2nd Street, Suite 200, Casper, WY. 82601.
