James Bernard Firestone, beloved Husband, Father, and Grandfather, passed away at the age of 92 on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, in his home in Casper, Wyoming. James was born on December 18, 1930, in Rawlins, Wyoming to Mable Alice and Winfred Scott Firestone, both of whom preceded him in death. James graduated from Rawlins High School and thereafter served in the U.S. Army as a tank commander in the Korean War. Upon his return from the war, he met and married Vonna Lee Holsteen on December 27, 1953. In 1985 James and Vonna moved from Rawlins, Wyoming to Casper, Wyoming. Vonna preceded James in death on June 6, 2017.
James and Vonna had three daughters, Brenda Roberts of Phoenix, Arizona; Sharry Firestone of Jackson, Wyoming; and Karma Sue who died at birth. James and Vonna had three grandchildren, Jeffrey Robert Fuechsel, Nicholas James Fuechsel, both of Jackson, Wyoming; and Tyler James Roberts of Phoenix Arizona.
James was an avid hunter and fisherman. He worked for a variety of companies during his life including Midwest Energy, CIG, True Drilling and Wells Fargo Bank as well as the United States Postal Service.
A Memorial Viewing will be held Friday, April 21, 2023 at 4 pm. James and Vonna’s ashes will be interred in the family plot in Rawlins, Wyoming. Services will be held this Spring at a date to be determined.
