Funeral services for Jim Coleman will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 2:00 PM, at the First United Methodist Church, 332 E. 2nd Street, Casper, WY. A reception will follow at the church. Cremation has taken place. Jim died unexpectedly at home on March 18, 2012. He was born on May 15, 1940 in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. He is survived by his wife, Joyce, two beloved sons, James and his wife Kerry of Glenrock, and Jonathan and his partner Doug of Casper. Also surviving are grandchildren, Whitney and Ashley; and three great grandchildren; Minnesota relatives, brother Dan Coleman and his wife Gayle, sister Bonnie Moore and her husband Dick, sister Pam Miller and her husband Steve, numerous in-laws, nephews and nieces, all who loved him. Jim was preceded in death by his father and mother. Joyce's sisters and brothers thought Jim was an extraordinary brother-in-law. Joyce's sisters Sybil and Ann lived with Jim and Joyce for a number of years. Jim was an electrical designer and was past owner with Joyce of Wyoming Lighting Associates. He was registered as a Designer of Electrical Engineering Systems from 1974 to retirement. He belonged to the following professional organizations: Illuminating Engineers, Construction Specification Institute, Inc. Consulting Engineers Council of MN, and Energy Conservation Council of Lander, WY. Some of Jim's community service organizations included: active Casper Rotary member; past president of the Casper Rotary Club; past president of the Lander Rotary Club; past chairman of the Lander/Riverton hospital long range planning committee; past chairman of the Lander Energy Council; a past church president in Lander. When he was Rotary Club president, his project was the In Celebration of Learning Park next to the Casper Library. Jim was an E4 in the Army and spent a year in Korea. He met Joyce while he was in the service. Jim and Joyce were married on February 1, 1964 and were married for 48 years. Among Jim's hobbies were hunting, fishing, hiking, woodworking, archery, and rock/fossil collecting. Jim will be greatly missed by his family. His curiosity and love of life and people were boundless. He has left his family and in-laws with wonderful memories. He was a true Renaissance man. His wife said the mold was broken when he was made. In lieu of flowers/memorials, please consider donations to the Casper Rotary Foundation.
