Services for James Burch, 87 of Casper will be held Thursday, July 11,2013, 11 :00 am at the Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery. Mr. Burch passed away peacefully, with his three daughters by his side on July 4,2013. He was born on June 13, 1926 to Charles William and Tessie Mae Burch. He enjoyed many hobbies including riding horses, camping, hunting, fishing, bee keeping and gardening. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. In 1944, Jim answered his country's call to service by leaving school his senior year to join the Army. (At age 60, Jim returned to earn his GED). During the Army he was a truck driver and received several medals. Some of the various jobs he held included herding sheep, working on the cat cracker at Texaco Refinery from 1950 until closing of the plant in 1982, and a ditch rider for Casper-Alcova Irrigation District where he met many friends and retired from three times. His favorite job and the one he did the best was being a dad to his children and grandpa to his grandchildren. After retirement he enjoyed having coffee with his friends at the Ghost Town Fuel Stop and visiting friends at the Mt. View Daylight Donut shop. He was never without a smile and will be fondly remembered and forever missed by his family and many friends. Mr. Burch is survived by one sister Barbara Petijon, three daughters, Debbie (Joe) Martinez, Kelly (Justin) Lesser, Becky (Ron) Raney, and one son, Bill (Marella) Burch. Mr. Burch also is survived by five grandsons, Michael, Keven, Jason, Kyle Martinez and Jacob Lesser, one granddaughter Melissa Lesser and two great- grandsons, Camden and Evan Martinez. He is also survived by two nephews and one niece and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one son.
