Funeral services for Jack Michael (Mike) Murphy, Sr. will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday the 26th of April, at Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery with Pastor John Spear and Pastor Chris Kinner of Highland Park Community Church officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Natrona County United Veterans Council and the Wyoming Army National Guard. Viewing will be held from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday April the 25th at Bustard's Funeral Home. Interment will be at Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery. Mike, 71, passed away April 21, 2012 at his home in Casper surrounded by his family. He was born September 25, 1940 in Bend, Oregon, the son of Jack Woodrow Murphy and Crystal Mae DeShazer. He graduated from Bend High School in May 1958 and married Joan D. Wright on November 29, 1958. He worked for Pacific Power and Light for 28 years. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1959 until 1962. He was a member of Highland Park Community Church and also SOWERS (Servants on Wheels Ever Ready). Mike's hobbies and interests included HAM Radio, Motorcycle riding, and RV'ing. He is survived by his wife, Joan Murphy of Casper; daughter, Sally Wilcox and husband Gene of Kingman, AZ; son, Jack Murphy, Jr. and wife Gina of Rock Springs, WY; daughter, Julie Garner and husband Bryce of Casper; son, Scott Murphy and wife Renae of Casper; Grandchildren: Jennifer Davis and husband Jeff of Speedwell, TN; Rachael Schultheis and husband Larry of San Diego, CA; Grandsons Nathan Murphy, Corbin Murphy of Casper, Ian Murphy of Rock Springs, WY and Granddaughter Courtney Murphy of Casper; Great Grandchildren: JD Davis and Jessie Davis both of Speedwell, TN. He was preceded in death by his mother, Crystal DeShazer and stepfather, Ken DeShazer. Father, Jack W. Murphy and his sister, Cheryl Jolly.
