Jack Cody Funk, age 97, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2016 in Casper, Wyoming. Jack was born February 26, 1919 in Powell, Wyoming to Lynn Hathaway Funk & Marvin Homer Funk. He was an only child and was the light in his parents' life. Jack grew up on the family farm at Eagles Nest, west of Powell. He graduated from Powell Senior High School, class of 1937. He joined the United States Navy on December 28, 1943, and served until May 4, 1946. On August 25, 1950, he married the love of his life, Eileen Sessions, in Red Lodge, Montana. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Jack is survived by his wife of 66 years and four children: Lyne'e (Charles) Youtz, Phoenix, AZ, Randy (Linda) Funk, Sacramento, CA., Rhonda (Ralph) Robertson, Casper, WY., Lore'e (Dan) Curfew, Evansville, WY. , 11 Grandchildren and 41 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Jack was a Journeyman Electrician for Guymon Electric his entire working career and also owned Funk's Pool Hall in Powell with his father. Jack was an avid fisherman. He built a number of boats from ‘scratch', he played the piano, worked with stained glass, enjoyed playing pool, and had a wonderful sense of humor. He was always singing, humming or whistling a variety of songs. Jack was kind to everyone he met, he treated them with respect and was an exemplary example of how people should treat one another. He will be missed. His funeral service will be Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. with a viewing in the Relief Society room from 1-1:30 at the Casper LDS church on 7th and Missouri, Casper, WY. There will be a graveside service at Crown Hill Cemetery in Powell, WY, on Monday, July 18, at 11 a. m.
