Irma Fern Howard Stolt passed away on April 16 2017, 13 days after her 102nd birthday. She was preceded in death by her parents Leon and Zelia Howard, her husband Stanley, two sisters Elain and Leona, four brothers James, DeWitt, Harlow and Gene, one son James and one daughter-in-law Joanie. She is survived by one sister Enid, two sons Robert and Sherwood, two daughters-in-law Donna and Evelyn, a grandson Robert II and wife Ticia, great granddaughters Julia, Laren, Kristina, and Rebecca a granddaughter Erin husband John and great granddaughter Miranda. Irma was born April 3, 1915 in Blunt, South Dakota, the seventh of 8 children. Graduating from Blunt High school, she briefly attended the University of South Dakota at Vermillion, returning home when her father underwent a cancer operation. With help from family, she was eventually able to travel to Los Angeles, where she found employment with Eastman Kodak. In 1942 she married Robert Paul Hubley in Los Angeles. In 1944 the couple had one son, Robert Howard Hubley. The marriage ended in divorce in 1947. Irma and her son returned to the family home in Blunt, where she helped care for her progressively ill father. After her father's death in 1950, Irma found civil service work in Huron, South Dakota, where she met and married Stanley Sherwood Stolt, an electrical engineer with the US Bureau of Reclamation. Irma and Stanley had two additional sons, Sherwood Spencer and James Clifford. Stanley legally adopted Robert, changing his name to Robert Howard Stolt. Stanley's job took the family to South Dakota, Minnesota, Montana, Cody Wyoming, and settled in Casper. Stan and Irma designed and built their home overlooking a bend in the North Platte river, and Irma pursued her career as an artist. At last count, Irma had over 900 paintings in private and public collections in the US, Canada, England, Germany, and Australia, including the Wyoming Statehouse. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 21, at 1: pm at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 51 Primrose, Casper WY. There will be a luncheon held in the church following the service. Interment will be at State Veterans Cemetery which will also include son James who passed away on October 18, 2016 . In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
