Irene Brooks

September 22, 1931 — March 20, 2019

Irene Brooks, age 87, of Casper, Wyoming passed away peacefully on Wednesday March 20, 2019. Loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was born to Pearl and Curtis Cady on Sept 22, 1931 in Glenrock, Wy. Her family moved to Lander, where it was told she drowned a chicken in buttermilk (this later proved handy when she added flour and started frying it for Wednesday night specials) and shaved a dog. When she was 12 years old her family moved to Casper and she graduated from Natrona County High School in 1950. At only 13 years old she fell in love with working in the restaurant industry. She managed a few hotels before purchasing the Goose Egg Inn in 1978. Owning and operating the Goose Egg gave her great pride and enabled her to use her compassion to cater to many, donating, and always offering a meal or more to anyone in need. Irene thoroughly enjoyed cooking for her family, friends, and tending to her many race horses. Irene is survived by her son, Shawn Brooks (Ti), daughter Charlie Stevenson (Randy), daughter Dolly Webster, 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and many other family members. She is proceeded in death by her son, Robert Forsberg, daughter, Kathy Carpenter, her mother, three brothers, and one sister. Services will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday April 6, 2019 at Bustard's Funeral Home. A celebration of life will immediately follow. Memorials can be made to the Irene Brooks Culinary Scholarship (in the process of being set up) Please make the donations to Bustard's Funeral Home. Also thank you for reading this as it cost us an arm and a leg!
