Ione Wilmes, 92, beloved mother of James D. Caves died peacefully October 5, 2010 at Central Wyoming Hospice Center following a massive stroke August 1, 2010. As per her request, no services will be held. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Bustard's Funeral Home. Ione was born September 7, 1918 in Casper, Wyoming to Helen H. and Perry M. Sanders. She graduated from NCHS and enrolled in nurses training at Natrona County Hospital. During World War II she was on the emergency crash crew at the Casper Airport, which was a US Army Air Force Bomber Training base. After the war, she enrolled at Casper Junior College where she studied secretarial skills. She was employed by Fred Goodstein at American Pipe and Supply and later at Trigood Oil. Ione moved to Los Angeles, California where she studied law. She was employed by several law firms, including the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transit District. Her last employment was with the Aerospace Corporation, where she achieved the position of Assistant Director of the Contracts Division and was one of that company's first women executives. Ione was married to James R. Caves, Melvin R. (Dick) Body and Harold B. Wilmes. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Frank A. Sanders. Survivors are her son, James D. Caves of Casper and her brother, Jerry A. Sanders of San Diego, CA.
