Iola Pile

January 8, 1924 — December 26, 2015

Iola "Oly" (Taylor) Pile, 91, passed away Saturday, December 26 at the Plate County Memorial Nursing Home in Wheatland, WY. Cremation has taken place and services will be held later in the spring. Oly was born to Raymond and Laura (Vollman) Taylor January 8, 1924 in Holdrege, NE. Later in 1924 the family moved to a homestead farm north of Douglas, WY. Iola used to say we were poor, but us kids didn't know it. We grew up with loving and hard working parents which taught us that hard work was a way of life. As her cousin said "Surely Iola was a hard worker". She worked as a waitress and bartender most of her life, up until she had a stroke at the age of 75." In 1941 she married Alan Hay. To this union was born a daughter, Barbara Lee on December 20, 1941. Oly married her second husband Joe Monroe who adopted Barbara Lee. Oly said if, in her marriage, they were not showing signs of getting ahead in a year, she moved on. In 1955 while working at the Gladstone Hotel in Casper, WY, she met Kenneth D. Pile. He was a bartender and she was a waitress. They were married on September 6, 1956. This was Oly's 5th and final marriage. To this union two children were born, Debbie S. Born February 11, 1959, and George V. born on December 12, 1960. She was a very generous person often helping someone with their troubles, especially her family and friends. She would take them into her home feed and shelter them until they could do it on their own. In the last years of her parents' lives, she took them into her home and cared for them so they did not have to go to a nursing home. If anyone needed help, even a dog or cat she was there to help however she could. She wasn't afraid to tell someone off if she thought they were in the wrong and usually she wouldn't forget it either. So the best thing to do was to deal with her straight. Oly is survived by her children, Barbara (Patrick) Pintus of Tempe, AZ, Debbie and son Tim Pile of Casper, WY, Goerge (Brandy) Pile of Wheatland, WY. A somewhat adopted son Mark Riddle of Buffalo, WY. Cousin WR "Bill" Vollman, Sister-in-law Dorothy Taylor, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and cousins. Oly was preceded in death by husband, Kenneth, parents Raymond and Laura Taylor, brothers Kenneth E. Taylor and Darryl "Tuffy" Taylor. In lieu of flowers a donation made in her name to Platte Valley Bank 200, 16th St. Wheatland, WY 82201 would be appreciated by the family. Bustard's Funeral Home is assisting in arrangements.
