Memorial services for Ina Kathleen Ambler, 85, of Casper, will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, May 10, 2010 at the Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church with Rev. Lynn Williamson officiating. Kay Ambler passed away at Central Wyoming Hospice on May 1, 2010. Kay was born on November 11, 1924 in Fort Morgan, Colorado, to George and Halcie Buzick. Kay was the youngest of 7 children. Their family moved to Denver when Kay was 3 years old. She graduated from West High School in 1942. On March 26, 1943, she married Ted Ambler in Denver. They moved to San Diego, CA, where they both worked during WWII. They moved back to Denver and lived there until 1953 when they moved to Casper where Ted started his business. Kay was a long time member of First Presbyterian Church and Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church. She was active as a Deacon and Sunday school teacher for many years. Kay and Ted's association with church resulted in life long friends that were an important part of their lives. She enjoyed the past 3 ½ years at Primrose Retirement Community with many church and community friends that were instrumental in making those years very special for her and her family. Ted, Kay and their daughters spent the 25 years traveling around the country in their 1960 Beechcraft Bonanza. Ted loved flying and Kay was the co-pilot. They saw every mountaintop in the country! The memories of those trips could be told for days, some good and some scary experiences. They always arrived home safely. In 1967 they built their home at the base of Casper Mountain where they lived until 1987, when Ted passed away. They loved the view looking down at the city of Casper. Kay is survived by her sister, June Davis of Denver, and sisters-in-law, Nita Ambler and Ruth Ambler of San Diego, CA; daughters, Teddie Ambler and Melanie, husband Tom Dowler; granddaughters, Gretchen and husband Brian Astone of Denver, Erin and husband Pete Kilbride of Dayton and Amanda Dowler of Casper; great grandchildren, Camden. Sophie, Caleb and Andrew. She is also survived by 19 nieces and nephews. Kay was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three sisters, three brothers and five nieces and nephews.
