Services for Mrs. Ida "Lorene" Jones will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 25, 2011 at Bustard's Funeral Home. Viewing will be from Noon to 8:00 PM, Friday, June 24, 2011 at Bustard's. Interment will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 25, 2011 at the Riverside Cemetery in Thermopolis, Wyoming. Mrs. Jones died June 19, 2011 at Poplar Living Center. She was born February 27, 1922 at Lucerne, Wyoming, the second daughter of Tollie A. Gwynn and Ida E. (Tanner) Gwynn. She was raised in Lucerne and attended grade school there beginning with the first grade at the age of five. Lorene graduated from Thermopolis High School and began college at the University at the age of seventeen. Her eight years of teaching elementary grades were at Shell, WY, Cottonwood School near Hamilton Dome, Greybull, Sunrise and Powder River, WY. On December 2, 1950 she and Donald W. Jones were married in Torrington, WY. They moved to Casper in July of 1960. Her interests included P.O.A. ponies which they showed in the western states, bowling, crocheting, playing dominos, crossword puzzles and bingo. She was an avid fan of the Wyoming Cowboys basketball team. Besides teaching, she worked as a clerk-typist for the Bureau of Reclamation, grocery and hardware clerk, Light and Gas Company and teacher's aide. Survivors include her son, David Jones and wife Judy of Casper, sister, Betty Crooks of Canby, OR, brother, Charlie Gwynn and his wife Josie of Casper, two grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother. Memorials may be made to the Heart Fund, Parkinson's disease fund or memorials of your choice.
