Hubert (Hugh) John Vogel, age 85, died surrounded by his family on Nov 24th, 2013 at Wyoming Medical Center. He was born in Sigourney, Iowa on April 18, 1928 to Carl and Berniece Vogel and was the identical twin of Herbert Vogel. In 1952 he moved to Casper where he met the love of his life, Marge Rund. They married July 24, 1954 and spent 50 wonderful years until her death in 2004. Hugh was a long-time member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. He was a founding member of the Bighorn National Wild Turkey Federation Chapter in Casper and was inducted into the prestigious Wyoming Wildlife Hall of Fame in 2010. Hugh was fondly known as Casper's Turkey Man. For his 80th birthday Hugh succeeded in achieving the World Grand Slam title in his turkey hunting efforts. Hugh's rose garden was unsurpassed in the Casper community. He grew over 200 roses in his garden from around the world. In 2010 he was nominated to receive the Jefferson award for his public service to the community. One of his greatest joys was going halibut fishing in Alaska. Hugh's career has spanned over 55 years in the oilfield business. Hugh started his oilfield career with Melton "Cotton" Wigley with K & W Sales in 1958. With them being an agent for Drilco, a division of Smith International, for 15 years, they brought Hugh on board as the District Manager for Drilco. In 1972 Hugh was promoted to Rocky Mountain Area Manager. Hugh left Drilco in 1980 and worked for Chance Collar Company and operated Alaska Oilfield Sales for many years. He has spent the last 25 years working with his longtime friend, Steve Nickson operating Stenco Supply Company. Over the past years, Hugh has mentored many young men in this trade. He is survived by his three loving daughters, Gina Kevin of Indianapolis, Indiana; Dawn Speakman and Jackie Martinez (Ernie), of Casper, WY. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren 4 great grandchildren, 2 brothers and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Marge. The rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm at Bustards's Funeral Home on December 13th. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am on December 14th at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with a luncheon in the church basement following inurnment at Highland Cemetery.
