H.G Cooley

August 24, 1929 — March 18, 2018

H.G. "Gene" Cooley of Casper, Wyoming. At his request, no services were scheduled for H.G. Cooley who passed away on March 19, 2018. He was born on August 24, 1929 in Chadron, Nebraska to Frank D. Cooley and Agnes M. (Auman) Cooley. He attended West Ward through the sixth grade in Chadron and graduated from Chadron High School in 1947 and Chadron State College in 1959 with a B.S. Degree. Military service included three years in the U.S. Army, two of which were in Europe with an intelligence unit of the Army Security Agency and four years with the Nebraska National Guard. He worked in various mining operations in Wyoming, Texas, Colorado and California, retiring in 1986 as a Mill Superintendent from the mining division of Getty Oil Company at Shirley Basin, Wyoming. He enjoyed traveling, fishing on Jackson Lake in the Grand Teton National Park, gold prospecting in Montana and antique truck restoration. He was a member of the Elk Lodge and Fraternal Order of Eagles in Riverton, Wyoming, American Legion, VFW, American Institute of Mining and Metallurgical Engineers, The American Truck Historical Society, Oregon Trail Grange, Casper Petroleum Club and worked with the Casper Humane Society at Casper, Wyoming. There are no immediate family members. He was preceded in death by his parents. Interment will be in the Cooley plot in the Greenwood Cemetery at Chadron, Nebraska .
