2/2/24 - 2/28/14 Our dear sweet husband and father passed away peacefully, Friday, February 28 of natural causes. He was 90 years old. Dad was born prematurely February 2, 1924 in Denver, Colorado. At 3 pounds, he and his mother had to take the train back to Frazier, Colorado in 50 degree below zero weather, where the family resided. In Frazier, the only warm place to put him was in a cardboard shoebox in the warming oven of their coal-burning stove. Throughout Dad's life, he had many odd jobs to make ends meet. His favorite job was "taming up" horses for a dude ranch in Colorado. He also spent many of his young years working in his Mother's restaurant (The Do Drop Inn) for $1 a day. The restaurant was the main source of support for their family. Dad attended High School in Denver and lived alone with his brother Bill, above the Weber Theatre downtown. Together the two of them lived with no adult supervision, but they had too much love and respect for their Mother to do anything that would hurt or embarrass her. In 1942, Dad volunteered for The Reserves of the Army Signal Corps for a 9-month tour. Part of his training in Morse Code and German Codes. He arrived in Birmingham, England on D-Day. A few days later, he was moved to Eastbourne, England where he worked on intercepting German Code. In May of 1946, he was honorably discharged from the Army, he returned to the University of Denver on the GI Bill. He graduated in 1948 with a degree in business management where he met the vivacious Paonia peach, Mary Frances (Fritzi) Ewing. On June 18 of 1949, they married and moved to Casper where he had a sales job with Burroughs Corporation. During the course of his years at Burroughs, he was offered several transfers, but he and Mom remained in Casper because of their love for the community and their friends. Together with friends they loved their Friday nights of dancing, poker, and bridge. They proudly raised three children-Greg, Karen and Jenny. Friends and family were an integral part of their lives. He especially loved the family home at 612 South Park. Dad was to become branch manager of Burroughs where he worked for 30 years. He went on to form his own company, then later worked for Gases Plus until he retired at age 85. He loved selling. Dad was a member of several organizations and served on many boards: American Red Cross, Casper Country Club, Senior Warden of St. Marks Church, proud member of Rotary Club for 50 years including president, and three years on the Casper City Council. Dad delivered Meals on Wheels for over 17 years. He is survived by his wife, Mary Frances of 65 years currently residing at Life Care Center of Casper, his three children, Greg (Clare) Wilson of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Karen Wilson of Tiburon, California and Jenny (Dan) Mayhew of Salt Lake City, Utah. Two grandchildren, Jennifer (Trae) Dupre of Gonzales, Lousiana, Nicholas Wilson (soon to be married to Martha Gary) of Hattiesburg, Mississippi and three great grandchildren, Hallie, Harper and Mattie Dupre, plus many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Hulda and Gustave Sundin (later changed to Wilson), His brothers Glenn (Dianne) and Bill, plus several family pets.
