Henry Stanko

Mass of Catholic Burial for Henry L. Stanko, 92, will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Monday, May 6, 2013 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church by Fr. Gary Ruzicka. Visitation will be at Bustard's Funeral Home from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Sunday, May 5, 2013 followed by the Rosary at 7:00 PM. Rite of Committal will be conducted at Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Natrona County United Veterans Council and the Wyoming Army National Guard. Mr. Stanko passed away May 1, 2013 at Central Wyoming Hospice Home. He was born August 6, 1920 in Sheridan, Wyoming and attended school there. On October 7, 1944 he married Carolyn Haag in Pensacola, Florida. Henry served his country in the United States Navy from 1941 - 1945. He was a rancher and livestock buyer. He also was co-owner of Rocky Mountain Packing Company. He rode brahma bulls in rodeos. When he was in his 70's, he had a successful hunt for a Rocky Mountain Sheep. Henry was a member of the American Trapshooting Association with 300,000 registered targets shattered, and a member of the Rocky Mountain Gun Club. He was a charter member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Henry enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapshooting, growing roses and tomatoes. He especially enjoyed his alone time cutting fire wood in the Big Horn Mountains. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn of Casper, daughter, Sheryl Allen of Rapid City, SD, son, Henry Stanko, Jr. of Lebanon, OR. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Teresa, Casey and Rocky Allen, Amanda Blakenship and Maryann Diefel. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Anna Stanko, sister, Helen Byrtus and brothers, Rudy, Mike and Edward Stanko. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions be made to St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
