Henry Cuartas

Henry Cuartas passed away peacefully at home on January 19, 2020 after a fourteen month battle with brain cancer.  He was born January 18, 1964 in Bogota, Colombia to Ana Elena Archila Ramirez and Mario Luis Cuartas Restrepo.  In his youth, he made many fond memories spending time with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.  When he was 15 years old, he moved with his mother to Caracas, Venezuela.  It was during this time that Henry was forced to quit school and go to work to support both he and his mother.  While living in Venezuela, he had his children Jhonnathan Cuartas and Johana Cuartas.  When Henry was in his mid-twenties, he immigrated to the United States where he settled in Miami, Florida for twelve years.  During his time in Florida, he enjoyed playing soccer and beach volleyball.  He also worked various jobs while earning his GED and then taking college courses in computer networking.  It was during this time in Florida that his son was able to join him in the United States.

In 2003, he left Florida and moved to Wyoming.  Henry began working in the oilfield and worked as a roughneck for a couple years.  He decided that he wanted to continue with his college studies and enrolled at Casper College to further his education.  He worked eleven hours a day and then went to school for three hours a night four days a week.  After two years of hard work, he earned his Associate’s Degree in Natural Resources Extraction in 2008.  He continued on with his education, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Management from the University of Wyoming in 2015.  He worked for many years in the oilfield industry until November 2018 when he was diagnosed with brain cancer.

In 2007, he met his wife Ginger and her three year old daughter Madelyn.  Henry and Ginger married in 2007 and a few years later, Henry later adopted Madelyn.  During this time, they enjoyed spending time together as a family and travelled extensively to many different states as well as many different countries.  Henry loved to travel and was an avid soccer fan. He was an amazing husband, father and friend.  As a result of his easygoing personality and sweet disposition, he created many friendships that spanned for many years and even decades.  For those who loved him, his passing meant the loss of a bright light and an amazing soul that will forever be missed.  The world was a better place with Henry in it.

Henry is survived by his wife, Ginger Cuartas of Casper; three children: Jhonnathan Cuartas of Casper; Johana Cuartas of Valencia, Venezuela; and Madelyn Cuartas of Casper as well as a daughter-in-law Erica Meeks of Casper.  He is also survived by three granddaughters: Nuvia Cuartas of Casper and Andrea Tovar and Noemi Tovar of Valencia, Venezuela.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Ana Elena Archila Ramirez.

Funeral services will be held at the Saturday, February 8, 2020 at 11:00 am at LDS Church located 2627 East 7th Street, Casper, Wyoming 82609 with a luncheon to follow.
