Helen Josephine Stroud Helen Josephine Stroud of Worland, Wyoming, passed away on Monday, July 26th. Helen was born on August 25, 1929 in Lyman, Nebraska to Jacob Bower and Emily Keller Bower. She was raised on a farm in Lyman until her high school years when the family moved to Lingle, Wyoming. Helen graduated from Lingle High School. On December 2, 1950 Helen married her life partner Odell "Slim" Stroud in Lingle, Wyoming. Slim and Helen were parents of two sons, Danny Odell and Robert Dean. After Slim was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army, the family moved frequently with Slim's job with Continental Oil. With each new relocation Helen formed lifelong bonds with many friends. In 1965 the family settled in Worland, Wyoming. Helen opened the Hazel Shop, a dress shop in Worland, and operated it for many years. Helen's passions were cooking for family and friends, church activities, crocheting, knitting and all types of handiwork, shopping, and of course, her sons and grandsons. You never left Helen's house with an empty stomach. Helen's health failed her in the latter part of her life but she enjoyed watching the traffic go by with her little dog "Tater" by her side. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Emily and Jacob, brother Raymond (Katie) Bower, sisters Dorothy (Fritz) Backman and June (Henry) Schlauthauer. Helen is survived by her husband Slim of Casper, Wyoming, sons Dan (Jean) Stroud of Pinedale, Wyoming, and Bob (Marilyn) Stroud of Albuquerque, New Mexico, grandsons Coulter of Casper, Wyoming and Nate of Pinedale, Wyoming. She is also survived by her sister Bert (Charlie) Meininger of Torrington, Wyoming and brother Harley (Alma) Bower of Worland, Wyoming and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Saturday, July 31st at Zion Lutheran Evangelical Church in Worland at 11:00 AM with Pastor Ralph Partelow officiating.
