Helen Knott

Helen passed away on August 19, 2015, at Life Care Center of Casper,after 99 full and productive years. She was the middle child of 7 born toHannah and Axel Hedberg in Wilton, North Dakota on July 15, 1916. She is survived by her daughter Dorothy Beatty (Wayne) of Casper and five grandchildren: Freddy Trayler, Jr. (Connie) of Plattsburg, MO, Tamara Chebar (Hernan) of Brooklyn NY, Michele Nash (Brad) of Gillette, WY., Stacy Knott (Trina) of Bonney Lake, WA. and Melissa Little (Jeremy) ofBartlesville, OK. She is also survived by 10 Great Grandchildren and many friends and acquaintances. Helen was preceded in death by her husband Melvin Sr., her son Melvin Jr. and all her siblings. Helen was a lifelong, and active, member of Grace Lutheran Church where she and Melvin were married in 1939. Helen and Melvin raised their two children in the Sinclair oil camp of Bairoil, Wyo. After his retirement in 1972 the couple moved to Casper where Helen became very active in Home Extension programs, the Izaak Walton League, her church and various sewing and cooking projects. All this while working full time in the housekeeping department at Casper College. She retired from Casper College in 1985 and devoted full energy to her sewing, cooking, canning and floriculture hobbies. In the year 2000, at the age of 84 she entered a record number of exhibits in The Natrona County Fair. That year she gathered 39 blue ribbons, many of those for her flowers, the sweepstakes ribbon in sewing and the Alltrista Award for canning. This was an example of her energy and drive. A memorial service is scheduled for Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at 2:00 p.m.,at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Brenda Frelsi officiating. A reception, light lunch and celebration of her life will be held prior to the service at 12:30 p.m. in the Social Hall at Grace Lutheran. Burial will follow the service at Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, people are encouraged to make donations to Grace Lutheran Church.
