Helen Hill

Helen Marguerite (Davis) Hill passed away October 25, 2017 at the Wyoming Medical Center after a long succession of illnesses. Helen was born on December 1, 1923 in Nebo, Illinois to William Virbie and Rosa May (Maynard) Davis. She was the second of four children; her siblings, Richard Dale Davis, Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Oller, Elva May Truax, and Beulah Marie Mathisen. She married the love of her life, Avery Lewis Hill, on March 2, 1942; a loving and wonderful marriage that lasted 75 years. Helen is survived by her husband, Avery Lewis Hill; daughter, Ronda Lynn McCarthy of Casper, WY; four grandchildren, Shannon McCarthy of Coon Rapids, MN, Kirk Smith of Myrtle Beach, SC, Tara Sanford of Albuquerque, NM, and Kellie Doran of Casper; her beautiful great grandchildren, Colton McCarthy, Karly McCarthy, Carter Sanford, Avery Sanford, Madison Fiedler, Noah Fiedler, Drew Fiedler, Teagan Doran and Jacob Kirby. Amazingly, she is also survived by her great - great grandchildren, Benson Williams, Ezekiel McCarthy, and Petra Fiedler. Who can forget her wonderful son-in-laws, John McCarthy and Francis Smith; her grandchildrens' spouses, Greg Sanford, Kim Smith, Brady Doran, and Jim O'Meara; (almost) and last but never least in anyone's hearts, Jordan McCarthy, the spouse of her great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Kathryn Sue Smith (Katy Delaney); her parents; one brother, Richard; and two sisters, Betty and Beulah. Helen worked at the Western Cartridge and Shell Oil Refinery before moving to Casper, Wyoming in 1947 with Avery. They then lived in Casper for the next 70 years raising a family they adored and who loved them in return without exception. Her family remembers her love of cooking, jigsaw and crossword puzzles, and above all being with her husband and family. Oh, she also loved a good desert - pie or chocolate being her favorites. She was humble to the ends of the earth. She will be greatly missed. Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at the Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery. A public visitation will be held from 6-8 P.M. on Monday, October 30, 2017 at Bustard's Funeral Home.
