In his infinite wisdom, our loving Lord saw fit to call Helen home to his waiting arms on Sunday, December 26, 2010 after graciously allowing her to attain the age of 92 years. She had been a resident at Poplar Living Center. She was given the gift of life on January 2, 1918 in Lingle, Wyoming as she was born the daughter of Matilda and Pearl T. Elder. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran Church. Her career began as a school teacher, but joined the federal government in the 1940's with the GAO office in Washington D.C. She transferred to Casper, Wyoming in the 1950's working for U.S.G.S. She retired from USGS in 1975. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters, and 2 brothers, Ruth Thomas, Irene Filter, Mary Long, Neil Elder, and Irwin Elder. She is survived by numerous nephews and grand nephews and nieces and grand nieces. A memorial service will be held at Lord of Lords Lutheran Church on Friday, January 7, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. Burial has taken place in the Scottsbluff Cemetery.
