Helen D. Bennett, 88, of Casper, WY passed away March 3, 2014 at Shepherd of the Valley Healthcare Center. She was born July 27, 1925 in Winner, SO to George and Helen (Frohberg) Blomstrom. She played clarinet in high school band and was valedictorian of her class. Also, she was a very good pianist and organist, as well as being an excellent seamstress, cook, and baker. As a young woman, she moved to Monterey, CA and worked for a short time in a cannery. She moved back to Winner, obtaining employment at the livestock auction house, where she met her husband to be, Leroy Bennett. Subsequently, they moved to CO, MT, and then to Lander, WY and in the interim had four children, Wendy, Monte, Hugh, and Joel. Having a facility with geometry and numbers, Helen became a bookkeeper and worked for the Ford Motor Co. in Lander, receiving several awards for accounting excellence. She divorced Leroy in 1970 and in 1973 moved to Escondido, CA where she was bookkeeper for Toyota. Later, she worked for the San Marcos Unified School District, retiring in 1996. Upon retirement, she moved to Modesto, CA to be near her daughter and grandson, both residing in San Francisco. While there, she made many more friends and was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church, preparing and conducting church services for nursing home residents. In Dec. 2010, she moved to Casper to be near her son Hugh, and his family. She had a deep love of nature, enjoyed reading, the hunt for special finds at thrift stores and yard sales, and, like all women, loved shopping for jewelry and clothes. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, her wonderful smile, love of laughter, and great patience graced her strong, lifelong, faith in God, which she did her very best to impart to her family and share with her friends. That faith helped greatly to endure the pain and difficult times of the last eight months of her life. Her passing leaves an abiding legacy, and a great void, in the lives of those who knew and loved her. She is survived by her brother Bob, sister Lois, her four children, grandson Dale, granddaughters Amy and Andrea, great-grandsons Alex, Max, and Corbin, qreat-qranddauqnter Bailey, and extended family. How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news .....
