A memorial service will be held Thursday April, 21st at 11:00 at First Christian Church 520 CY Ave.Dr. Bryant D. Badger officiating for Harry E. Leimback, who passed away Apri115, 2011 in Casper at 85. He was born to Bessy and Claude Leimback in Joliet, Montana October 5, 1925. He moved to Casper shortly after his birth and has resided here since. Harry attended school in Casper and graduated from NCHS in 1943 before serving in the Navy during WWII. He served on a ship in the Pacific. He returned to Casper where he met his lovely wife Melda Christiansen while attending Casper College. They moved to Laramie in 1948 where he attended the University of Wyoming Law School. Harry graduated in 1951 and returned to Casper to practice law. Mayor Tom Nicolas appointed him Municipal Court Judge where he served before becoming Deputy County Attorney with Ray Whitaker. He ran and won two, four year terms as County Attorney. After 8 years as County and Prosecuting Attorney he was appointed to fill Robert Murphy's place in the State Senate for two years at which time he ran for two more four year terms serving from 1966 to 1977. In 1974 he unsuccessfully ran for Governor of the State of Wyoming. Governor Herschler appointed Harry to the 7th Judicial District Court where he served 10 years as a District Court Judge. Many boards benefited from Harry's expertise including: Casper College Board of Trustees, Natrona County Airport Board, WCDA, Grace Lutheran Board and he was Chairman of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Wyoming. Harry became the Chairman of the State of Wyoming Democratic Party and had opportunities to meet national leaders such as; President Lyndon Johnson, Senator Ted Kennedy, President Jimmy Carter, Tip Oneal, Richard Russell, Gale McGee, Teno Roncalio and many others. He enjoyed politics, Pan card games, the law, reading and golf. He was a member of both Paradise Valley Golf Course and later the Casper Country Club. Harry and Melda were married 63 years and had three children Tom (Sonja), Patrick (Dee) and Linda Toohey (Ed). He had 9 wonderful grandchildren Tom (Tiffany), Dan (Jenny), Kristy Oster (Josh), Jennifer Leonhardt (Brandon), Amber, Laura, Chelsea and Taylor King, Josh Siderius (Step-grandson), three great grandchildren and several beloved nieces and nephews. Harry was preceded in death by his parents, sister Betty Carrier and his eldest son Tom. Memorials may be made to the Casper College Foundation, the Multiple Sclerosis Society or a charity of your choice.
