Harold Muir

Services for Harold Muir will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at the Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery with Pastor Wes Connell officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Natrona County United Veterans Council and the Wyoming Army National Guard. Interment will be at the Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery. Mr. Muir, 92, died December 17, 2010 at the Central Wyoming Hospice Home in Casper. He was born October 13, 1918 in Casper, Wyoming, the son of Ethel E. and C. C. Muir. He attended schools in Casper and 1 ½ years at NCHS. He joined the Forsythe Amusement Company as a ride operator from 1933 to 1942. He returned to the company in 1946 after his discharge from the military. He was in the Army Air Corps and Air Force from 1942 through 1945. He was with the 8th Air Force in the E.T.O. He was stationed at Honnington Air Base in Sussex, England with the 364th Fighter Group. He married Mary I. Pigg on October 20, 1947. He joined the Casper Police Department December 7, 1948 as a patrolman. He retired in April, 1968 as Captain. From 1968 through 1970, he was made under-sheriff of Natrona County. He then went to work at the First National Bank in 1971 through 1988. He retired as Head Security Officer of the First Interstate Bank. His hobbies included photography, building some local buildings for his H.O. Model Railroad layout. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister. He did not care for hunting or fishing or wearing cowboy boots. Survivors include his wife Mary I. Muir of Park Place Living Facility; one stepson, Larry E. Pigg and wife Norma and three step grandchildren and eight step great grandchildren and one step great great grandson.
