Funeral services for Hal Snyder, 83, will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Bustard's Funeral Home. Viewing will be from 12:00 Noon to 8:00 PM, Friday, August 17, 2012 at Bustard's. Military honors will be accorded by the Natrona County United Veterans Council and the Wyoming Army National Guard. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery. Hal passed away peacefully on August 14, 2012. He was born May 24, 1929 in Sumner, IL to Hal and Hanna E. Snyder. He was raised and educated in Illinois. Following military service, he moved to Casper to work in the oil fields. On September 22, 1955 he married Mildred Shanafelt and together they raised six children. Hal worked in the freight industry, relocating to Newcastle, WY in 1971 as Terminal Manager for Salt Creek Freightways. He retired and returned to Casper in 1980. Hal had a great sense of humor. He loved and enjoyed his grandchildren, working in his yard and being ornery. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, his parents, 3 brothers, 4 sisters and a son and a daughter. He is survived by sisters, Helen Thomas of Claremont, IL, Pauline Hutchings of Decatur, IL, sons, Dale Shanafelt, Gene Shanafelt, daughters, Dixie (Joe) Carson, Mary (Paul) Petersen, all of Casper, 15 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 12 great great grandchildren and numerous and nephews. He was loved and will be missed by all.
