Grace Brummett

Grace Ann (Baker) Brummett, 77 of Casper, Wyoming passed away in the arms of her husband of 60 years on August 8, 2018 at Life Care Center of Casper. Grace Ann Baker was born in Kemmerer, Wyoming to Ralph and Blanche Baker on November 29, 1940, and was one of 10 children. She spent her youth helping family skid timber with draft horses for their sawmill business. She met the love of her life when her bother, Alvin set her up on a blind date to go dancing with his friend, Wes. They were married June 7, 1958 in Salt Lake City, Utah six months after their first date. Grace was a homemaker and mother to four children. She followed her husband through several states while he pursued employment to provide for their growing family. They eventually settled in Casper while starting their business, Salt Creek Welding, in 1968. She enjoyed gardening her flowerbeds (especially her rosebushes), canning fruits and vegetables, hunting and camping, and even worked at Woolworths in Salt Lake in her youth so she could go see Elvis Presley in concert. She proudly said she was one of the crazy teenagers screaming in the front row. Grace always took time to talk to any baby and tried to make them smile. Her grandchildren will always remember drinking coffee with grandma out of little teacups. Anyone who walked in the door was greeted with a bright smile, kind words, and a hot cup of coffee. Grace is survived by her husband Wes Brummett, her children Margaret Reynolds (Troy), Wesley Brummett (Robin), Carolyn Hackworth, and Brenda Flynn (Kevin); 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, sisters Betty Holford, Irene Harvey, Maurene Smith, and Reatta Horton; along with many other extended family members. Her parents Ralph and Blanche Baker, Brothers Alvin, Terry, and Ralph; sisters Ada, Carol, and grandson Wesley Owen preceded her in death. Viewing will be held Friday, August 10th from 5-7 pm at Bar Nunn Baptist Church. Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 11th at 10 am at Bar Nunn Baptist Church, 1401 Sunset Boulevard in Bar Nunn. A private internment will be held at a later date.
