Memorial services for Rev. Gordon E. Roe, 80, of Casper, WY are being planned for this summer. Rev. Roe passed away January 12, 2016 in Casper, WY. Gordon was born June 8, 1935 in Lander, WY to Viola Demaree and Arthur Roe. He graduated from Lander Valley High School in 1953. After high school Gordon joined the United States Army. He was stationed at Ft. Meyer in Arlington, VA and was part of the Honor Guard for Arlington National Cemetery. He proudly served his country until 1957. It was while in Virginia that he met the love of his life, June Lorraine Dodson, whom he married in Arlington on June 14, 1958. After his time in the service Gordon went on to attend Casper College where he earned his associates degree and American University in Washington D.C.. Gordon created a very successful career with the Small Business Administration in Washington D.C. and Casper, WY between 1961 and 1988 when he was called to serve as a Baptist Minister for various churches in Wyoming from 1988 until he retired in 2008. After his retirement he continued to serve as Chaplain for the American Legion. Gordon and June had three children together that he cherished beyond words. He loved the time he spent with his children sharing his love of hunting and fishing with them as well as teaching them a love of reading, and a deep appreciation for all types of music. He himself was musically inclined and shared this talent as a member of the Redskin Football Band in Washington D.C. He was also a member of the Washingtonia Schuhplattler (German Folk Dance Club). Gordon is survived by his bride, June Roe of Casper, WY; daughter, Sherri (David) Johnson of Casper; son Douglas (Judy) Roe of Tampa, FL; Sisters Phyllis (Donald "Swede") Quam and JoAnne (Bob) Sterling all of Lander, WY; as well as five grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his daughter Kimberly Fischer; and grandson, Kevin Johnson.
