Gertrude Johanna Wysk, 89, passed away Monday, November 18, 2013 at Casper Medical Center in Casper, WY following a brief battle with cancer. Gertrude was born February 23, 1924 in Vienna, Austria to Karl and Leopoldine (Pflock) Lichtmayer. She grew up and attended school in Vienna, Austria. After completing Business School she worked for the Austrian government in the Employment Office. She experienced first-hand the Nazi invasion in Austria and endured many hardships during World War II. Gertrude married Hans Wysk in Vienna, Austria in 1947. They were married for 64 years prior to his passing in 2011. Gertrude enjoyed the lifestyle of a military family and traveled extensively. She was extremely proud of her American citizenship which she obtained in 1953. Gertrude was a wonderful cook and homemaker and enjoyed spending time with family and entertaining friends. She raised her four children with love, encouragement, laughter, and strong faith. Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Larry (Linda) Wysk, Berkeley Springs, WV, Ramona (Jack) Collins, Spearfish, SD, and Diana (John) Johner, Gillette, WY; brother, Walter Lichtmayer, Vienna, Austria; grandchildren, Jeff, Jason, Jennifer, Sherry, Shane, Susan, Tina, and Steve; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hans; sisters, Aurella and Herta; and daughter, Teresa. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 21, 2013 at Our Lady of Fatima, in Casper, WY. Burial will be held Friday, November 22, 2013 at Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis, SD.
