Gertrude May Smith passed away May 7, 2011. She was 95. Gertrude was born November 8, 1915 to William Llewelyn and Edith May Hicks. She graduated from West Denver High in 1934. On June 25, 1936 she married Gerald Duane Smith. Two daughters were born from this union, Gail and Glenda. They were married 62 years before he was deceased. The family moved to Casper, WY in 1947 to establish a mobile home and RV business. She worked diligently alongside her husband emphasizing hard work and honesty to her family of five generations. Many lifelong friends were made along the way. She lived happily at Maurice Griffith Manor for the two years prior to her death. Gertrude will always be remembered as a bright shining star, always singing, smiling, happy and optimistic. Gertrude never met a stranger. She loved bright colors in her life and we know she will light heaven up! Beautiful, hardworking, loyal and generous sums up her life. She will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved this very unique woman. Gertrude is survived by daughters Gail (Victor) Lucero of Casper and Glenda Wise of Mesa, AZ, seven grandsons, Pat, Mike and Rodney Patik, all of Casper, Kevin, Craig, Kirk, and Bradley Wise all of Mesa, AZ, 18 great grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gerald, son-in-law Harold Wise, two grandsons, Kerry and Cory Patik, three sisters, and one brother. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at 3:00 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (attached to Shepherd of the Valley Care Center), with Pastor Marvin Skogen officiating.
