Gerald "Jerry" Leland McMurtry (52) passed away on the morning of September 10th, 2019. Jerry was born on November 20, 1966 in Casper, Wyoming to Robert McMurtry and Janet Pichlmaier (McCurdy). He was a loving, kind, and generous soul who loved his family unconditionally. There was never a time when he wouldn't give anything to help a friend, neighbor, or family member. Jerry married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Moore-McMurtry and from that union came two beautiful children; Brandon and Kelsie McMurtry. After many years together Jerry and Patty decided to go their separate ways. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, camping, four-wheeling, flying his drone, spending time with his son and his family in the great outdoors sitting by the campfire and telling stories. He was a hard worker, had strong work ethic and would work any job as long as he was able to provide for his family, he instilled these same things in his son who he was so very proud of. Jerry's uncontrollable zest for life was contagious and will be missed so very much by his family and all who knew him. The most important thing for Jerry was his family. He spent time teaching his nephew Teagen how to fly his drone and his 3-year-old great niece how to play the guitar. He loved telling stories and jokes and always had a new video to show us. Jerry never left without telling his family he loved them and giving them a hug. He is survived by his son Brandon; his mother Janet (Ken) Pichlmaier, brothers; Mike (Heather) McMurtry and Randy Foley, and sister Frances Foley. Nieces Alex Foley, Amanda Woods, Tori and Randi Renee Foley. Nephews Dawson and Teagen McMurtry, Aiden Foley and great niece Kaydance Foley and numerous extended family. Jerry is proceeded in death by his daughter Kelsie, his father Robert McMurtry, Grandparents Jack and Margaret McCurdy, Great-Grandmother Frances Raliegh and paternal Grandmother Clara McMurtry. There will be a private service on Saturday, September 14th with Dustin Carlson officiating. Bustard's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers and in memory of his daughter Kelsie, donations to Denver Children's Hospital or the Denver Ronald McDonald House would be greatly appreciated.
