Memorial services for Mrs. Georgianna Smith, 95, of Casper, will be held at 10:00AM, on Monday, June 30, 2014, at First Christian Church with Reverend Cynthia McBride officiating. Inurnment will take place at Highland cemetery. Georgianna Smith (95) peacefully passed away June 25, 2014 after a long and full life. Georgianna was born in Thermopolis, Wyoming January 11, 1919 to Loyd and Tacetta Walker. She was raised on the family ranch near Black Mountain in Hot Springs County. Georgianna attended school in Thermopolis on alternating school years, being home school every other year by her mother until high school. After graduating from Hot Springs County High School, Georgianna attended Park College in Kansas City, Missouri graduating with a degree in Business. She then moved to New York City where she worked for various insurance companies during WWII. While in New York, she met and married Wilkie Smith. After the war, Georgianna and Wilke moved to Casper, Wyoming and began their family, raising two sons Loyd and Steven. Her husband died in 1965, and Georgianna returned to UW and obtained a degree in Elementary Education. She taught fourth grade 20 years at North Casper Elementary School until her retirement in 1989. She lived retirement to its fullest traveling, square dancing, growing roses and enjoying the company of her many friends, especially her long-time companion Gene Wiess. Georgianna was known for her great sense of humor and fun-loving outlook on life. She was cherished by all who knew her and will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her father, mother and husband. She is survived by her sons Loyd (Jayne), Steven (Ingrid) and her loving companion of 37 years Gene Wiess. Services for Georgianna will be 10 am June 30, 2014 at the First Christian Church.
