George Peter Grossman was born March 16, 1924 to Katie Grossman in Dunn County, ND. He was raised by his grandparents, Joseph and Kathryn Grossman. He married Lorene Rohr on October 17, 1944. George and Lorene lived in Dickinson most of their lives until they moved to Bismarck, ND and later to Casper, WY in 2006. George died peacefully at the Central Wyoming Hospice Home, surrounded by his family, in Casper WY on Friday, September 10, 2010. George was an active member of the Volunteer Fire Department and worked as a Special Deputy Sheriff for many years. He also worked as a mechanic, parts manager, police officer, security officer and in the oil field. He had many hobbies and was very talented with woodworking and building furniture and also oil painting. George loved dancing, bowling, watching sports on TV, playing cards, and fishing. He collected model cars, stamps, and coins. He enjoyed researching his genealogy and writing stories about his life. George is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lorene of Casper, Wyoming and his two daughters, Darlene (Cliff) York of Buhl, Idaho and Mary Kaye (Ardin) Hermanson of Casper, Wyoming. He also leaves seven Grandchildren, Lanie (Sarah) Frenzel of North Dakota, Lori (Tad) Lefor of Hawaii, Sara (Darrell) Higgins of Colorado, Trevor (Melissa) Hermanson of Colorado, Carla Horob of North Dakota, and Daniel York of Australia, as well as 15 great grandchildren and one great-great Grandchild. He is also survived by five brothers, Bill, Victor, Richard and Ralph Tormaschy and Floyd Schorsch and two sisters, Lorraine Selinger and Frances Hanstad and one great aunt, Eve, of California and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Joseph and Kathryn Grossman, his mother Katie Tormaschy and his father Joseph Schorsch, two sisters Frances Freer and Caroline Martin and two brothers Edwin and Donald Schorsch. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers Catholic Masses be offered or memorials made to Central Wyoming Hospice and Transitions at 319 S. Wilson St., Casper, WY 82601. Following cremation by Bustards in Casper, WY, Ladbury Funeral Home in Dickinson, ND is in charge of arrangements. Rosary and prayers will be said Wednesday, September 15th at 7 pm at Ladbury's and a funeral Mass on Thursday at 10 am at St Wenceslaus Church in Dickinson, ND. A memorial Mass is planned for Saturday, September 18th at 10 am at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Casper, WY.
