George James Carson, age 78, passed away in his home at 4251 Fox on Monday, February 14, 2011. He was born in Powder River, WY on October 7, 1932. His parents were Genevive (Pienczykowski) and Russel Carson. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. During that time he played rugby on the German National Team. They called him "The American Race Car." The team traveled to France, Spain, Italy and several places in Africa where George developed some life-long friendships. He returned to Africa many times to visit friends and to hunt big game. After returning from the Army, he worked for the Casper Police Department, walking a beat in the Downtown and Sandbar areas. George went to work for the Wyoming Game and Fish Department in 1957. He was proud to be associated with the Game and Fish and was a game warden for nearly 30 years before he retired. He married Billie Allison on February 6, 1957. They had 3 sons - Jeffery (who died as an infant in 1958), Chris and Tony. His position with the Game and Fish took the family from Casper to Douglas to Rawlins and Green River. They moved back to Casper after Billie's health declined. George worked in Security at Hilltop National Bank for several years. Before Billie passed away in 1991, they were blessed to celebrate their 34th anniversary together. George married Cathy Meisinger in 1993. They were divorced in 2003 but always remained good friends. He was part of all the family events. He was "Grandpa George" to Cathy's 3 granddaughters - Tace and Tavee (parents - Bart and Tiffany Meisinger) - and Rachel (parents - Brandon and Valerie Taro). Survivors include: 2 sons - Chris Carson (wife - Kim) of Las Vegas, NV and Tony Carson (wife - Regina) of Green River, WY; 4 grandchildren - Kristina Vorderbruggen (husband - Henry) of Sheridan, Tony James Carson of Laramie, Robert Menasco of Seattle, WA and Amanda Carson of Green River; 2 great-grandchildren - Barabbas and Atlas Vorderbruggen of Sheridan. George devoted his life to family, friends, wildlife management and running. He never tired of studying antelope and their habits. He had several articles published in the Wyoming Wildlife magazine. He loved living in Wyoming and being outdoors. He was grateful for his years as a game warden that allowed him to pursue those passions. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Bustard Funeral Home. George requested no services.
