George Lawrence "Larry" Bale, Age 77, Casper, Wyoming, died September 2, 2013 at his home in Casper from cancer. He was born in Estherville, Iowa March 22, 1936, to parents Doris Shirley and George Bale, raised in Estherville, Iowa and Colorado Springs, Colorado. Larry graduated from Cheyenne Mountain High School in Colorado Springs and then attended college at Colorado College and the University of Colorado in Boulder, graduating with a BS in Geology in January of 1959. He was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon and was on the UC Boulder gymnastics team. He then married Margo Winther and then lived in California, Colorado, Oklahoma and settled in Wyoming in 1969. Larry married Rita Selby April 24, 1973. During his career in the oil, gas, and minerals industry, he and his wife also had multiple rental properties. Larry taught skiing at Hogadon for 37 years. He enjoyed many resorts but had a special fondness for Steamboat Springs where he and his family spent many vacations. Besides being a skier, Larry was also a very talented carver of birds and waterfowl, winning awards in 2006 and 2008 in Ocean City, MD. Larry will always be remembered for his wit and humor and his love of his family. Larry and his wife have built an amazing network of incredible friends over the years. He is survived by his wife, Rita; his sons, Ken, John, and Kirk; his daughters, Lee Ann and Kim; and his 13 grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life Dinner to be held at the Casper Petroleum Club on Friday, September 6th at 5:00pm. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Bustard's.
