Geneva Emilea Hess went to be with her Lord on Jan 21, 2017 at the age of 89. Geneva was born Oct 15, 1927 at the family homestead in Viborg, South Dakota to Emil and Mendi (Hansen) Miller. She graduated from the 8th grade and in 1947 met Byron Eugene Hess in Rochester, Minnesota. They were married August 11, 1948 in Harlan, Iowa. During their early years Geneva and Byron moved around doing farming and truck driving in Iowa, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. They moved their family to Casper, Wyoming in the fall of 1963. She was a stay at home mom taking pride in the raising of her 7 children. She is survived by her children, Rodney, Bonnie (Casper) Smith, Stanley (Karen), Doran (Mitzi), James (Paula), Craig (Janice Morgan) and Faye Gatlin; 29 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; and her sister, Darlene (Ken) Fritsch. Honorary pallbearers are grandsons, David LaPlant, Leeray Green, Landon Green, Doran Hess, Jr., William Gatlin, Daniel Gatlin, Chris Smith, Pat Smith, Mickey McAdam, Pat Hurley, Chris Welte, Casey Kaper, Stacy Hess, Jack Hess, and Michael Hess. Geneva was preceded in death by her husband, Byron; her parents, Emil and Mendi Miller; her brother, Verlyn Miller; sisters, Bernice Miller, Beverly Zivic, and Arlene Janovsky; grandson, Leeroy Stacy Green; and niece, Linda Kay Hess. Geneva's wish was to be cremated. Her family will have a celebration of life service at 11am on June 7, 2017 at Basic Fellowship Christian Church, 719 3rd St., in Evansville.
