Gary Dean Ketchum, 77, passed away April 1st, 2024, at Central Wyoming Hospice surrounded by his family and friends.

Gary was born on May 6, 1946 in Casper Wyoming to Charles Lacy Ketchum and Lillie Mae Ketchum (Eye).  He grew up in Casper, Wyoming.  Gary married Geraldine Louise Brown of Loveland Colorado on October 8, 1967.  One year later they added daughter LaVeta to the family.  Two years later adopted daughters Melinda and Kandra joined the family and two years after that daughter Valorie was born.

Gary spent most of his life in Casper, with a brief time in Colorado.  Gary worked for the Natrona County School District from 1970 to 2001, as a bus driver and as custodial supervisor at CY Junior High, Dean Morgan Junior High, East Junior High and Centennial Junior High.  After retiring from the school district, Gary went to work for Timberline Hospitalities as their head maintenance at Days Inn from 2004 to 2012. He enjoyed several years of retirement with his wife. Gary had a great love of music. He played the Hawiian steel guitar until arthritis made it impossible. He sang tenor in the Mountain Road Singers group for many years. He enjoyed witty and teasing banter. He was a kind man who cared deeply for people and enjoyed sharing his love of Jesus with others. His favorite pastime was spending time with his grandchildren and his dogs.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years Geraldine Ketchum, daughters Kandra (Mike) Luke, LaVeta Ketchum and Valorie (Jason) Evert,  grandchildren Eddie Luke, Jesse (Max) Tasche, Lacey Evert and Faith Evert, and many nieces and nephews.  The youngest of ten, he is also survived by a brother Ernie Ketchum and sister Peggy Metzker.  He is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Lillie Ketchum, daughter Melinda Tomas and 7 siblings.

Memorial Services for Gary Dean Ketchum will be held Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 3:00 pm at the Seventh-day Adventist Church on the Mountain Road.  

Memorial donations can be made to Mountain Road Christian Academy or Central Wyoming Hospice.
