Memorial services for Casper native, G. Paula Walter, 89, will be held at 2:00PM Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at the Pioneer Church located at the Central Wyoming Fairgrounds, 1700 Fairgrounds Rd. A reception to follow at the V.F.W. Post 9439,1800 Bryan Stock Trail. Paula passed away at her home peacefully, May 3, 2013. She was born April 8, 1924, in Casper, to William E. and Gertrude Arline Pratt. During the depression, Paula's father, William, being a contractor, took his family to Tampa, FL and Roxanna, TX, following the construction business. They returned to Casper in 1927, where her father, formed the Pratt Sodium Company, and later, in 1937 formed the Pratt Ranch. They raised Angus cattle while continuing to run the growing sodium sulphate company. Paula attended school in Casper, graduating from Natrona County High School. She attended Mills College in California for 2 years, and then attended college for 2 years in Boulder, Colorado, successfully receiving a degree in business marketing. On June 30, 1946, Paula married Donald R. Walter. From this union came three daughters, Ann, Donna, and Julie. After Paula's father passed away in 1974, Don and Paula took over the Pratt Ranch and Pratt Sodium companies, and continued conducting business, along with her mother, Arline Pratt. Paula was a 4-H leader for 25 years, teaching the 4-Hers of her club, the City Dudes, about horses and horsemanship. She wrote and sold short stories, played bridge and was an Avon representative, enjoying meeting new friends, for 30 years. Together with her husband Don, they enjoyed dancing at the Viva La Joie Club, national trail riding, showing Appaloosa horses with their family, and traveling with their fifth wheel trailer across the United States including Alaska. Don and Paula spent 61 ~ happy years together. Paula is survived by two daughters, Ann Schott and Donna Walter, both of Casper; five grandchildren, Yvonne Kubiak, Donald R. Ramsour, Jodee Knight, Kelsey Knight, and Holli Knight, all of Casper; four great-grandchildren, Tiffany Flott, of Cheyenne, Daniel Grannis of Wright, Donald Duane and Wyatt Robert Ramsour of Casper; and four great-great grandchildren, Chance Flott and Erik Foster of Riverton, Aaron Clemens and Dakota Ward of Cheyenne. Paula is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Walter, daughter, Julie Knight, her parents, William E. and Gertrude Arline Pratt. One sister, Elaine Swinney-Erganbright, infant granddaughter, Marie Schott, and nephew William Chesley Swinney.
