Frieda Kilwein

August 1, 1942 — May 14, 2018

Frieda M. Kilwein passed peacefully May 14, 2018. She was born August 1, 1942 in Bayard, Nebraska. She was the last child and only girl born to Roy and Susan (Layne) Pierce. She had nine older brothers and was the apple of her daddy's eye. Her parents died when she was still quite young. Her brother Noland and his wife Dolly took her into their home and raised her along with their own daughters, Charlotte and Linda. Frieda married Dale Owens in 1959 and had their son Kenneth. In 1961, she married Lenord Brown and had their daughter Gina. She moved to Casper in 1968 and married Gayle Belden, who helped raise her children into adulthood. Eventually, Larry Kilwein came into her life and after what seemed like forever, they were married on January 18, 1997 in Las Vegas, NV. She had finally found "The One"! She worked at Control Data from 1968 until it closed. She made many lifelong friends there. She enjoyed getting together with them for coffee and breakfast in her later years. She also worked at Petrolane, WOTCO and a few drilling companies over the years. Frieda liked to pass time by reading a juicy paperback novel or even a good cookbook, playing her solitaire game, crocheting, knitting, and bargain shopping with her daughter. Some of her best times were spent fishing, boating and getting together with family at Glendo Resevoir. She enjoyed socializing and exercising at the Casper Recreation Center. She delighted in her grandchildren and kept them well fed with whatever they desired, whenever they visited. She loved almost all animals, large and small, tame and wild. Her favorites were her poodles, Ginger and Buttons. She loved country music and even some not-so-country music! Most of all, she loved this great country and was extremely proud of all the veterans in her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, George (Leona), Robert, Noland (Dolly), Manley, Andy, Earl and Marvin (Eileen) Pierce; her son, Kenneth Owens and his wife, Lori; sister-in-law, Lorraine (Robert) Rider; and brothers-in-law, Richard Kilwein and Don (Violet) Kilwein. She is survived by her husband, Larry Kilwein; daughter, Gina (David) Asleson; stepdaughter, Bonnie (Albert) Lehr; stepson, Gary (Tracy) Kilwein; grandchildren, Joel (Jesica) Brown, Amanda Brown, Scott (Amanda) Owens, Brianna (Tyler) Cutright and Kaylee Lehr; seven great grandchildren; brothers, Lloyd (Bonnie) Pierce and Roy Pierce, Jr.; sisters-in-law, Rose Pierce, Shirley Pierce, Gladys Kilwein, Alice (Lee) Maxwell, Victoria (Harold) Farris, Delores (Mike) Kahl, and Marie Kilwein; brother-in-law, Joe (Sharon) Kilwein; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the Casper Humane Society in Frieda's honor.
