Fred M. Eiserman was on born October 24, 1923in PearI River, NY, the son of Fred J. and Anna R. Eiserman. HeGraduated from Pearl River High School in 1941. He enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard and served aboard the USS Cepheus AKA 18. He saw action in the European and Mediterranean Theater, including the invasion of Southern France. Duty in the Pacific Theater included the invasion of Okinawa and in the occupation of Japan and China. After his discharge, he attended Utah State University. He married Elizabeth Sipos on December 22, 1948 in Logan Utah. Following graduation from Utah State University, he began work with the Wyoming Game and Fish department as one of a team of the first fisheries biologists in the State. During the 28 years in that service, he was instrumental in the development of many fisheries management practices. At the time of his resigning he was Supervisor of Fisheries Management and Research. He chaired the first Instream Flow Conference in 1976 and served on the legislative interim committee addressing the issue of instream flows and he destruction of stream stability by unregulated dredging. During this period he received numerous awards including the American Fisheries Society Award of Excellence, the Wyoming Game & Fish Award for Meritorious Contributions to the Protection Riparian Wildlife Habitat, the Wyoming Game & Fish Commission Special Commendation Award, and the National Wildlife Federation Conservation Award ad was elected into the National Fisheries Hall of Excellence in 1995. He was voted into the prestigious "Outdoor Hall of Fame". He was a member of the American Fisheries Society and served as President of that Society's Western Division. He also served on the Colorado River Wildlife Council and the Wyoming development Council and is an honorary member of the Great Plains Fisheries Workers Association. And, is a member of the American Institute of Fisheries Research Biologists. He served on numerous church and civic Committees and served a Board member of the Platte River Parkway Trust. Following employment with the Wyoming Game & Fish Department, he was employed by Bechtel Corporation working as Manager of environmental Compliance for the ETSI pipeline in Casper and San Francisco. Following this employment, he took a position with Woodward Clyde in Anchorage, Alaska as Manager for Environmental Services. At the end of his career, he worked for URS Corporation (Woodward Clyde) as marketing representative in Wyoming. He was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, the Audubon Society, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, SME, Fort Casper Historical Society, the Wyoming Geological Association, Asst. at Casper College Wildlife Museum; Asst. with Library of Congress Veteran's Interviews. He was preceded in death by his wife. He is survived by his three sons and their wives, Mark and Shar Eiserman, Eric Eiserman, Chris and Jeanene Eiserman; his grandson, Tyler; and his sister and brother-in-law, Arlene and Philip Anns. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, November 20, 2015 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 18 at Bustard's Funeral Home. Contributions in Fred Eiserman's name may be made to the charity of the donor's choice
