FRANKIN CHARLES SMITH December 31, 1936 - December 22, 2012 Born to Charles and Frances Smith of Casper. Franklin grew up In Casper and attended Casper schools, graduating from Natrona County High School in 1955. He attended Casper College, receiving an Associates of Arts degree in 1957. Franklin continued his education at the University of Wyoming, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science Degree In 1961. Franklin was in the US Army and was stationed at Walter Reed Navel Center. He received an honorable discharge in September 1963. As an avid hunter and fisherman, Franklin had loyal friends with whom he enjoyed hunting or fishing trips through his lifetime. He enjoyed fishing and target shooting with his brother, Richard. Franklin was employed by the State of Wyoming for 33 years, most of those years with the Wyoming Department of Agriculture. He was an excellent resource in food and meat sciences for his colleagues. He continued his education at the University of Wyoming while working in Laramie. He completed the degree of Master of Science in Animal Science In 1973. In 1983, Franklin was transferred to Torrington to be the Inspector-in-Charge at Kelly Packing Co., retiring from the state of Wyoming in October 1995. Throughout most of his adult life, Franklin took college classes in a wide variety of fields. He believed in trying to broaden his fields of knowledge. At 75, he completed his last college course at Eastern Wyoming College only days before he passed away. Franklin was a dedicated enthusiast of his daily workouts at the Eastern Wyoming College Fitness Center. Many lasting friendships were formed during the 24 years of exercising. Franklin is survived by Ann Frances Smith of Casper, WY. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Richard Smith.
