Frank Cordiner

Frank S. Cordiner, 89, of Casper, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2015 at Central Wyoming Hospice. Funeral services will be held at the Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church on Friday, March 6, 2015 at 3:30 PM, with Rev. Lynn Williamson conducting the service. Born in Laramie on November 13, 1925, Frank was the first of four children born to Frank and Margaret Sundby Cordiner. He was the great grandson of William and Elizabeth Cordiner who settled in Laramie in 1870. In 1938 the Cordiner family moved to Cheyenne where Frank attended Jr. and Sr. High School, graduating in 1943. Frank continued his education at the University of Wyoming before joining the U. S. Navy V-12 program at Iowa State University. He was honorably discharged in 1946. Frank then resumed studies at the University of Wyoming, graduating in 1948 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering/Petroleum Engineering. Frank was a member of the ATO fraternity. After college, Frank began employment with Ohio Oil/Marathon Oil, and continued working for 38 years going from Wyoming to Nebraska, Colorado, Alaska and finally back to Wyoming. Frank married Marion Espach from 1949 to 1965 and they had two children, Deborah and Michael. Frank married Donna Mae Bereman from 1966 to 1987 and he had five stepchildren. Frank then met Elizabeth (Betty) Hixon Lockhart and they married in 1988. Frank and Betty made their home in Casper and were active members of Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church. Frank was an avid fly fisherman and they enjoyed summers at their cabin in Centennial, Wyoming. Betty introduced Frank to the art of water colors, and together they were active members in the Wyoming Watercolor Society as well as the Casper Artist Guild. In 2005, Frank was named at the Grand Wyoming Artist by the Wyoming Artist Associating. Betty passed away in 2006 but Frank continued his support of the Casper Artist Guild. Frank also was a supporter of the Casper Meals on Wheels Program, driving and delivering meals for 25 years. Frank is survived by his children, Deborah Ferdon of Bethany, WV, Michael Cordiner and his wife Leigh of Winter Springs, Florida, sister Martha Benedict of Cheyenne, WY, brother David (Chris) of Temple, Texas, stepson, Michael Bereman of Snoqualmie, Washington, stepson Hugh Bereman of Oklahoma City, OK, stepdaughter Janice (Charlie) Mueller of Oneonta, NY and stepdaughter Connie Ellefson of Aurora, CO. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shepherd of the Hills Presbyterian Church, Casper Meals on Wheels program or the Wyoming Hospice Associating.
