Francis “Fran” Gerard Kegler, 67 of Casper, Wyoming passed away on May 1, 2024 after a short, but a gallant battle with leukemia. Francis was born in Dubuque, Iowa on June 23, 1956. He was the eighth of nine children born to Lester and Marie (Hitzler) Kegler. He attended elementary school in Dubuque, Iowa and graduated from Wahlert High School in 1974. He moved to Casper after graduation to be with his brothers and to enjoy all the outdoor activities Wyoming had to offer. He owned a construction company with his brothers before going to work at Black Hills Bentonite. In 1992, Francis met the love of his life, Jana, on a blind date and they married in 1994. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, backpacking, 4-wheeling, traveling, and other outdoor activities. Most of all, Francis loved spending his time with his family. His grandchildren meant the world to him. Francis is survived by his loving wife, Jana Kegler (Frandsen) of Casper, Wyoming, sisters, Dorothy Smothers of Dubuque, Iowa and Maggie (David) Hoyt of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, brothers, Gerard (Vicky) Kegler of Casper, Wyoming, George (Wanda) Kegler of Casper, Wyoming, and Christopher Kegler of Bar Nunn, Wyoming. He also leaves behind his six children: Rebecca Kegler of Houston, Texas, Elizabeth Shoupe of Casper, Wyoming, Samantha (Derrick) English of Chandler, Texas, Zackary (Holly) Kegler of Casper, Wyoming, Benjamin (Tracey) Kegler of Bar Nunn, Wyoming and Brooklynne Kegler of Casper, Wyoming, as well as his father-in-law, David Taylor of Casper, Wyoming. The pride and joys of his life were his grandchildren: Kayla Shoupe, Preston Warsco, Bean Shoupe, Camille Kegler, Jaxton English, Kelton English, Karley Kegler, Hudson Kegler, Lincoln Kegler, Everly Kegler, and Briggson Kegler. He is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his daughter Miranda Kegler, father Lester Kegler, mother Marie Kegler, brother John Kegler, sisters Ann Gentz, and Theresa Brandenburg, brothers-in-law Bruce Brandenburg, Louis Smothers, and Joe Gentz, sisters-in-law Joana Kegler and Lucinda Kegler, and mother-in-law, Sharon Taylor. He is also preceded in death by other extended family. Funeral service will be held at Bustard and Jacoby Funeral Home in Casper, Wyoming on May 6, 2024 at 10 a.m. immediately followed by a reception. Cremation has already taken place. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Central Wyoming Hospice and Transitions or Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
